The descriptions found below are the ones our members will find with their monthly shipment of two bottles of fine wine from the French Wine Club.

Red: Syrah, Vin de Pays d'Hauterive 2004

This Syrah comes from the Corbières, an appellation part of the Languedoc, close to the Pyrénées Mountains. The producer, Guilhem Durand, has been recognized for the quality of his wines with many quotes from Robert Parker.

The Pays d'Hauterive has a nice climate, a lot of sun for the old vines to give ripe grapes. This 100% Syrah has consequently a high percentage of alcool (14%). It has a deep, red color, with purple reflections. The nose is intense. It offers a lot of red fruits, spices, a bit smoky with a gorgeous texture. It has soft tannins, is very ripe and offers a long finish. It is a luscious wine that will age 3 to 5 years.

White: Domaine des Cassagnoles, Cuvée Gros Manseng 2005

Domaine des Cassagnoles is part of the Cotes de Gascogne. This is a wine of the South West, using the famous grape Gros Manseng. Consumed in its youth, it is fragrant, fruity and hits all the palate's pleasure spot. The Domaine is owned by Gerard Baumann, who innovates with grapes varieties that are not in demand (Colombard, Ugny Blanc, Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng).

This is a powerhouse wine offering gobs of honeyed, citrusy fruit, an unctuous texture and surprising elegance and length. Serve it with full-flavored fish or poultry dish.
