Created in 1946, the Sieur d'Arques Cooperative is a leading winery in Languedoc. 400 winegrowers gathered around a single project and a single organization as well as two production facilities in order to offer a large and varied inventory.
The goals of the Sieur d'Arques founders were to energize and improve the image of wines from the Languedoc region. The winegrowers are committed to quality and traceability to guarantee their products. This approach rests on the certifications granted to the production sites. The winery consists of over 5,000 acres and is one of the first varietal producer in France.
Sainte Chanelle is a 100% Pinot Noir. The light soil texture allows low yields, improving the concentration of the berry component and the richness of the wine. After a fresh, fruity opening, its structure in the mouth is nicely balanced with flavors of morello cherries with a touch of liquorice.
It is low in acidity and tannins, and would classify as a light to medium body. It is a beautiful wine with grilled salmon or tuna. It will also accompany nicely roasted pork, duck or veal. And it can be appreciated as well with medium-hard cheese.
