The descriptions found below are the ones our members will find with their monthly shipment of two bottles of fine wine from the French Wine Club.
Red: Crozes-Hermitage Les Pierrelles, 2002
This impeccably run family estate is located in the village of Larnage (North Cotes du Rhone). It is part of the eleven villages that make up the appellation Crozes-Hermitage. The Belle family used to be members of the co-op in Tain-l'Hermitage, but in 1988 they began to make their own wine in their new winery.
The Crozes-Hermitage is a 100% Syrah. It is a powerful wine, exhibiting chewy, smokey, jammy cassis fruit finishing with a hint of spicy blueberry. As soon as you open it you will be pleased with its excellent nose. I recommend letting it breathe for an hour, or even better, decant it. Excellent cellaring potential, but equally wonderful with your favorite lamb dish

White: Muscat Wunsch & Mann 2004
In 1793, the Mann family settled in Wettolsheim, south of Strasbourg, to grow grapes, starting a long family tradition. In 1948 Joseph Wunsh and Joseph Mann founded the winery, which is still run by the Mann family.
This Alsace wine originate from the best hillsides around Wettolsheim. The grapes come from their 48-acre vineyard. Wettolsheim benefits from a particularly sunny, dry and warm climate which allows the Manns to produce stunning wines from different varieties, including Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Tokay, and Gewurztraminer.
This dry Muscat has a pale straw color. It is very aromatic and wonderfully floral. It is a wine packed with flavors of melon and quince, with a soft acidity and a long finish.

Beaujolais Nouveau: Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau (Gry-Sablon), Domaine Dominique Morel, 2006
This is an extremely limited production of Domaine-bottled Beaujolais-Village Nouveau of only sixteen hundred cases (800 cases of which were allocated to the United States)! These prime vineyards are planted in high density (i.e. 10,000
vines per hectare - 2.5 acre), thinned to only 5-6 handfuls of grapes per vine, and hand-harvested 8 to 20 days after most of its neighbors. Whole clusters are then fermented using semi-carbonic maceration.
The Beaujolais Villages (Domaine de Gry-Sablon) vineyards are discretely snuggled
into the granite-laden southeast-facing hillsides (some of which approach 1500 feet in elevation) near the village of Emeringes, and directly adjoining the exalted northern Grand Cru Beaujolais appellation of Julienas.
Yes, there IS a difference! Nouveau is best enjoyed within 9 months following harvest. Don't settle for mass-produced wines when you can offer Dominique Morel's unrivaled "Nouveau" experience!
Only 8 cases left. Order fast if you want your own.
Price: $13.00 per bottle (click
