Red: Domaine de Courbissac Eos 2005

Languedoc is the biggest region of wine production in France. It spreads from the Rhone River to the Spanish border. It contains about 13 "Appellations", among them the Minervois, located between the cities of Carcassonne and Narbonne

The Domaine of Courbissac was created in 2002 by two men who would honor their motto: "Life is too short to drink bad wine". One is film producer Reinhard Brundig, and the other is winemaker Mark Tempe.

Eos 2005 is a blend of 60% Carignan, 20% Cinsault and 20% Grenache. It has a purple color, a red plum nose, rose petal, white pepper and wood spices. It leaves a nice bouquet of red fruits in the mouth. Texture is medium-bodied, soft and upfront with sufficient acidity, and integrated tannins that finish harmoniously with a degree of structure and complexity.

It is a wine to drink now with grilled fowl or soft cheeses.

White: Domaine des Cassagnoles, "Cuvée Gros Manseng" 2006

The South-West of France is a wine explorer's paradise. Small towns and hidden villages are still making wines the same way (and with the same gloriously obscure grape varieties) they did five or more centuries ago. For the fun of it, have you heard of these grapes: Arrufiat, Camaralet, Ondenc, Baroque or Courbu BlancŠ In that case we are far away from the traditional Chardonnay!

This Domaine de Cassagnoles is made of 100% Gros Manseng. This is a grape representative of the South-West. This dry white wine is fruity and powerful in the mouth. It has notes of toast, dry fruit and a long finish. It is rich and smooth.

Serve it as an aperitif or with smoked fish, white fish in sauce or goat cheese.
