Warning: Please make sure first that the address where you would like your order delivered is in a State where such deliveries are legal. See our delivery map.

The descriptions found below are the ones our members will find with their monthly shipment of two bottles of fine wine from the French Wine Club.

Red: Tour de Lys Merlot 2002

The Tour de Lys wines are a creation of Madeleine Proy, an oenology consultant for Pivotal, a wine importer. Madeleine was trained at the Agricultural University in Macon and at the University of wine in Bordeaux. She is the former winemaker at Chateau Portier and Chateau Lachassagne. In her current role, she helps growers determine which barrels of their production to bottle under their own label. As such, she is in a unique position to select only the finest lots for her Tour de Lys label.

Madeleine's purpose with Tour de Lys is simple: to offer wines of excellent quality at an excellent price. To find varietal wines which fit this description, she spend a considerable amoutn of time traveling throughout the Pays d'Oc region working with growers and producers.

This Merlot has a deep inky purple color. It shows cocoa and ripe red fruits on the nose. On the palate, it reveals a balance black fruits and sweet spices closing with a nice finish. This wine is unfiltered to leave all the natural flavors and aromas. You will find deposit and sediments on the cork. This wine has often been thought to be a Bordeaux. Serve it with pork roast, or cutlets, steaks, assorted hard cheeses and chocolate.

White: Chateau d'Arricaud 2002

Chateau d'Arricaud is located in the Bordeaux area, at the extreme southeastern point of the Graves Appellation. The eastern edge of

The vineyard approaches the banks of the Gironde River between Barsac and Sauternes. Isabelle Bouyx, the owner, is the 4th generation of the Bouyx family to be making wine at Chateau d'Arricaud. The beautiful 17th century Chateau with its medieval courtyard has an ultra modern cellar.

The high percentage of Semillon in this wine dominates the nose with an impressive range of lemon, grapefruit, melon and mineral characters. It has a vibrant acidity with a palate of fruit in the mouth and a refreshing, lively finish. The blend is 50% Semillon, 47% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle.
