Château Haut Barreyre is produced in the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux. This is a long strip of land on the east side of the Garonne River, facing the Graves region. This Château has been producing wine for almost 3 centuries, which makes it the oldest vineyard of the Bordeaux region.
The winters are hard there, but very hot summers help produce healthy grapes with excellent maturity and concentration for harvest time. Château Haut Barreyre is a blend of 77% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc. It has a clean, vivid, rich color. The nose is beautifully aromatic, carrying hints of cinnamon and hay. On the palate it is round and very well balanced, mouth-filling with good complexity. It is a rich wine yet elegant. The finish is soft.
Château Barreyre has a good cellar potential 3 to 5 years.
