White: Château Marie Plaisance 2007
Being thought of as poor man's Bordeaux has never really pleased the wine growers of Bergerac, but this lovely, calm, hilly country has feuded with the Bordelais since even before King Edward III prohibited the passage of wine, fruit, men, women and children (in other words, anything and anyone) across the river to Bordeaux. Château Marie Plaisance is a Bergerac wine, which is part of the South West region.
It is a blend of 60% Sauvignon, 25% Semillon and 15% muscadelle. It has a beautiful yellow green color, a very intense nose quite complex with notes of exotic fruits. This dry and very fruity wine will accompany well sea food and fish. It needs to be drunk young!
