The descriptions found below are the ones our members will find with their monthly shipment of two bottles of fine wine from the French Wine Club.

Red: Domaine de Mourchon 2003

Domaine de Mourchon is a Côtes du Rhone. It is produced north of Avignon in a village called Seguret. It is still the Provence area, with little hills and a dry climate with a lot of sun. Walter Mc Kinlay acquired this vineyard and became successful at producing this wine in the Cocirc;tes du Rhone tradition.

Domaine de Mourchon is a blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Carignan and 5% Cinsault. It exhibits a dark ruby color along with loads of sweet black cherry and cassis fruit, pepper, and lavender notes. It is a medium-bodied wine soft and hefty in the mouth, but well balanced with ripe tannin. It can be consumed over the next 3 to 4 years.

White: Château des Cléons 2006  - Muscadet Sèvres et Maine Sur lie

Château des Cléons is located in  the Loire Valley, close to the city of Nantes and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a dry white wine made of 100% Melon de Bourgogne. As its name implies, this is a variety which was imported (expelled might be a better term) from the vineyard of Burgundy. Most Muscadet is sold as Muscadet de Sèvres et Maine. It is produced on the gently hilly banks of the Sèvres and Maine rivers, two tributaries of the Loire. Château des Cléons is a Muscadet sur Lie, meaning that the wine is matured on the lees, and bottled straight from the barrel.

Château des Cléons has a light yellow color with green nuances. It has a subtle and complex nose with citrus aromas. In the mouth it is aromatic and intense with a long finish. Enjoy it with fish, seafood or on its own. It should be drunk young.
