Red: Château Reignac de Tizac (Bordeaux) 2000
The Château Reignac de Tizac is a building dating back to the 13th century, located near the village of St Gervais, on the fringe of the Côtes de Bourg area. This vineyard produced from 1910 until 1960, then its owner died, and it was left abandoned until 1977. Stephan Motut bought the property and planted new vines (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec). Shortly after, he refurbished the wine storehouse, bought stainless steel tanks and had the room temperature controlled.
This wine is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is aged in oak. Château de Reignac is a juicy, slushy red wine. It has nice, smooth tannins. It is a refined wine with flavors of raspberries and blackberries. It will accompany red meats grilled or in sauce. Aging 7 to 10 years.

White: Château Hélène Pénélope 2004
Château Hélène is located 7 miles from Carcassonne, in the Corbières region of Languedoc. The property has 100 acres of vines planted in the foothills of the Alaric Mountains. The very first harvest took place in 1911, but it was not until the 1970's, when Marie-Helene Gau, a psychologist passionate about wine, started developing the Domaine to become one of the reference names in the Corbières appellation by lowering the yields by half and by building a modern winery.
In 2000 the property was bought by Robert Baudoin, who continued her work by developing export sales. There is a legend that tells us that during the Odyssey, Ulysses came all the way to Barbaira (10km/6.2miles east of Carcassone) to get food for his companions who were beached on the coast. That's why the wines are named Ulysses, Penelope, Helen of Troy.
Château Hélène is a blend of 30% Marsanne, 40% Macabeu and 30% Grenache. It is a very aromatic, citrusy wine. It is also fresh, elegant and well balanced. Drink Château Hélène cool as an aperitif, or enjoy it with grilled fish, chicken or pasta.
