Red: Domaine de Grangeneuve Tradition 2007
The Domaine de Grangeneuve is located in the village of Roussas, côtes du Tricastin, which is part of the south Côtes du Rhône. The owner, Henri Bour, is considered as a leading producer in the district. He makes wines of head-turning aromatic quality and strikingly accurate Syrah character. He sells out fast every vintage, and always dominates the annual local tasting competition. 2007 was a landmark vintage at this estate. By a stange quirk of fate, Henri had to make the wines entirely by himself, without the help of his injured cellar master, and the results were awe-inspiring.
Domaine de Grangeneuve Cuvée Tradition is a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. It gives off the same cocoa scent we have come to associate with the great "La Truffière". It also shows unusual heft and character, lovely firm texture and sheerly delicious fruit.
