Red: Château Auzias 2003 - Cuvée Mademoiselle
Château Auzias is located in the Languedoc, slightly North of the city of Carcassonne. It is an A.O.C (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) Cabardes.
The Château and the cellars were built during the reign of Napoleon I, but this Cabardes vineyard draws its well-established reputation from the success of this region, which can be traced back to 500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Cuvée Mademoiselle is a blend of Grenache noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Alicante grapes. They are harvested separately according to each particular variety. This wine is of a superb dark ruby-red color with a slight crimson hue. It is a full-bodied wine, smooth on the palate. The fruity flavor of mature grapes offers a harmony of floral scents, roses and hyacinths.
Château Auzias will accompany well pork, hors d'oeuvres, meat stew, red meat and cheeses. It will age beautifully for 5 to seven years.

White: Saint Roche 2004
Among all the wines that I taste, there are some that I would qualify as obscure but exciting. A customer today was telling me that he belonged to the Club precisely because I offer wines that he would never buy on his own!
Such is the case for Saint Roche. It comes from the LanguedocRoussillon, but is actually very close to the Southern Rhône area, in the department of Gard. It is the the wine maker of Domaine Tavernel who created this unusual wine. There are several particularities about it. It is a Vin de Pays, a blend of 70% Vermentino and 30% Muscat, and it is grown biologically, which means without pesticides. The grape Vermentino is grown also in Corsica and Italy. We are far from the Chardonnay here!
The color is bright and pale. The nose is open, with nice aromas of white flowers. This wine is ripe and exotic, with full flavors of citrus, apple and piecrust. The finish is nice, vivid, refreshing with a luscious texture.
It is to be served chilled, with seafood, salads, chicken, or on its own as an aperitif.
